Assessment Details
Aims & Objectives
The aim of this assignment is to demonstrate your knowledge of organisational behaviour, by studying failure from an organisational perspective. Companies, non-profits, clubs, and governments can damage their relationships with important stakeholders or even cause harm to their employees. Some of these failures can be the result of neglecting organisational behaviour factors.
Task Requirements
You will need to select an organisational failure that has occurred in the last five years. After identifying a failure, your task is to identify organisational behaviour theories, concepts, and ideas that best explain the cause of the failure, and then to evaluate what the organisation did to recover from the failure.
Structure and coherence
The assignment should contain the following elements:
1. Identification of the failure and context: Describe what happened, the context in which it occurred, and the consequences for the organisation's stakeholders. This section is meant to provide context for the failure. It should explain who was affected and how, or how it disadvantages the organisation and/or its members, or other stakeholders.
2. Analysis of organisational behaviour factors: Building on this description, identify, analyse, and discuss in detail 3 organisational behaviour theories, concepts, and ideas that contributed to the problem / failure. These may be individual, group, or organisational level factors, such as cultural flaws, lack of ethics, or concern for the dignity of work.
3. Consideration of response / consequence of ignoring failure: Describe what a comparable organisation does to ensure this loss or failure would not occur in their organisation, what aspects of the culture are strong and positive. What specific organisational issue would have ensured the first company’s success instead of failure. What do the first company need to change to ensure this does not happen again. What behaviour driving policy would ensure success?
4. Provide recommendations that offer creative and original solutions to the issues you have raised. Recommendations need to be focused on what could have been done better and/or moving forward in response to the organisational theories, concepts, and ideas issues identified. In making these recommendations, ensure that they are pragmatic and specific (i.e., make recommendations that are viable and within the organisation’s capacity to implement).

Teamwork
You will be working in teams of 4-5 students. You may decide to divide the task amongst the team members, but each member must contribute equally to the overall task. You must provide your initials to the sections you write to demonstrate your individual contribution.
Structure & coherence
1. This is to be presented in a report format with title, objectives, introduction, findings, recommendations and conclusion.
1. The 2,000 words exclude references and bibliography. Please include the references clearly (there should be at least 6 valid references including material from the net which you are encouraged to use). Please type 1.5 line spacing.
Research and documentation
Apply relevant models, concepts, theories, and literature in the field of organisational behaviour. You are expected to incorporate relevant research and theory from the broader organisational behaviour literature (e.g., journal articles and/or books), not just the text and course materials. Research the topic thoroughly, aim to support your arguments with evidence, using appropriate terminology from the discipline.
