ASSESSMENT TASK 3: INDIVIDUAL TECHNOLOGY SHOWCASE
TASK DESCRIPTION
Each student is required to research a selected emerging or trending technology within the IT sector, as discussed in Module 2 of the course.
1. Select an industry from the following list:
• Education
• Healthcare
• Transportation
• Entertainment
• Retail
2. Once you have selected an industry, choose an emerging or trending technology within that industry. Below are some examples for each industry:
• Artificial Intelligence in Education
• Telemedicine in Healthcare
• Autonomous Vehicles in Transportation
• Haptic Feedback in VR Gaming in Entertainment
• Cashierless Stores in Retail
3. You will then choose to present your selected technology with one of the following showcase formats:
• Audio Podcast
- Write a script. You are required to prepare a structured script. for your podcast and submit it as a ‘formal report’ by the due date, following the template provided on a later page.
- Create an audio podcast with an image and background music. You will create a podcast similar to ABC News Daily:

- Upload it to an accessible server such as YouTube.
- Note: Since YouTube doesn’t accept audio-only files, you must convert your audio into a video format (e.g., MP4) before uploading.

- Write a script.: the same as described above
- Create a video explaining your selected technology. Refer to the example,

- Upload it to an accessible server such as YouTube.
• Website
- Write descriptive paragraphs: You are required to prepare structured
paragraphs (i.e., contents) for your website and submit them as a ‘formal report’ by the due date, following the template provided on a later page
- Create a website that is fully accessible.
If you wish to explore a technology from a different industry or a non-IT field, you must first discuss it with your tutor and obtain approval before proceeding.

BRIEF
You are required to deliver the following A & B:
A. Technology showcase script. or descriptive paragraph
The technology showcase script. or paragraph must include the following information
1. Topic Name
An example of a topic name can be “The Functionality and Limitations of Autonomous Vehicles.”
2. Introduction
Provide a brief explanation of the technology, such as autonomous vehicles, by describing its purpose, how it functions, and its common applications.
3. Showcase Motivation
Explain the reason for selecting this topic and describe how you plan to present it.
4. Showcase Major Contents
Discuss the five major contents of your showcase in your script or descriptive paragraph as per below. For example, if you choose the topic
“The Functionality and Limitations of Autonomous Vehicles,” your proposed content structure could be as follows:
1. How Do Autonomous Vehicles Work? 2. Key technologies used in
Autonomous Vehicles 3. Comparative Analysis: Autonomous Vehicles vs. Human Drivers 4. Limitations of Autonomous Vehicles 5. The Future of Autonomous Vehicles and Ethical Considerations
5. References
If you are aiming for high marks (Distinction or higher), your references MUST follow APA 7 style. and include at least two academic journal articles, two textbooks, and two reputable websites. Note that Wikipedia is not recommended as a source.
Script. Word Count and References
• The word count is flexible; however, each section must be thoroughly
covered and clearly explained. If you choose to create an audio or video, it should have a sufficient playback length to ensure all key points are effectively communicated. The duration should meet the required presentation time.
• All content must be well-supported by proper references following APA
7 to maintain credibility and academic integrity. To achieve high marks, ensure your references are relevant, reliable, and correctly formatted.
B. Technology Presentation
Present your selected technology using a podcast, YouTube video or a website. The allotted time for technology presentations is a minimum of 8 minutes and a maximum of 10 minutes. Please note that failure to manage time might result in a penalty.
DUE: Both the script. or descriptive paragraph and the technology URL will be due in Week 6. The individual presentations will run in Week 7 Tutorial A and Tutorial B classes.
In Week 6, you are required to
• submit your report (showcase script. or descriptive paragraphs) to Assignment 3 submission point on Canvas.
- The URL of your showcase must be included on the last page of the report under Appendix A
• upload the same URL to the designated discussion board “Discussions -
Week 7: Individual Showcase Presentation Submission (URL)” on Canvas to ensure a smooth transition of presentation during Week 7
Notes:
• Late submission of your report will incur a 5% penalty per day.
• Your report must be formatted using Arial font (size 11) with 1.5 line spacing.
