Structure:

This essay includes five major components including:

1)   Introduction: introduce your major topic and theme and demonstrate your major argument 2)   Subclaim paragraph 1

Topic sentence: what your subclaim is

Evidence: analysis of the relevant passages or lines (consider what you have done in close reading essay)

Concluding sentence: relate your subclaim to the major claim (how this subclaim supports/illustrates your major claim)

3)   Subclaim paragraph 2

4)   Subclaim paragraph 3

5)   Conclusion
