An analysis of a multi-modal text

2000 words due on Friday 26^th July – to be submitted through Turnitin by 5 pm

This assessment task requires you to select two multi-modal texts you have investigated through engagement with either the Vietnam War archive or the Indigenous poster archive. You will analyse these texts in terms of their socio-cultural and historical context and the ways in which discourses of literacy and power are mobilised through these texts.

Details of this assessment task:

Part 1.

Briefly describe the multi-modal texts you have selected and describe the socio-cultural contexts that produced them, including a discussion of the intended audience/s. (400 words)

Part 2.

Closely analyse the texts you have selected, drawing on one theoretical framework introduced in LPL, for example sociocultural frameworks or critical pedagogy. Use these frameworks to examine the ways in which these texts use literacy practices to engage with issues of power. Consider multiple perspectives and ways of reading these texts and insights that can be gained from comparing these texts. (1000 words)

Part 3.

Reflecting on your analysis, what insights have you gained about the role of literacy practices in provoking and facilitating social change? Support your contention with evidence from your scholarly readings and the theoretical frameworks introduced in this subject. (600 words)
