Group Presentation 2 (NEW due date: Monday, June 10, 2024, 10%)
Agri-Food from Canada to China
Your group’s specific title is required.
Below are the GUIDELINES: 5Ws and 1How (adjustment of the sequence is fine) Your group decides whether to combine a few (sub-)categories.
What: - What is the name of the food product?
(Post openly under Discussions by Sunday, June 2!)
- What are the features of the product?
- What could your group do to promote the Canadian product in China?
Who: - Who are the exporters in Canada?
- Who are the importers in China?
- Who are the consumers in China that are interested in the product?
- Who are the competitors of Canadian agri-food product, if any?
Where: - Where are the exporters located in Canada?
- Where is the product sold in China?
- Where are the competitors in China, Canada, and beyond?
When: - When did Canada started to export the product to China?
- Year-to-year statistics if you can find them.
Why: - Why does Canada export this product to China? Or,
- Why does China buy this product from Canada?
How:
- How well is the product received in China? Or,
- How do Chinese consumers regard the product from Canada?
- How could your group improve the sales of the Canadian product in China? (This part could be included in the What part – What could your group do….)
Glossary: Your group gives a written presentation in English and Chinese, including an English-Chinese glossary of all the major words and phrases. There is no need to list the prevalent ones but the genuinely challenging ones that the whole class can learn from each other. Your group decides how extensive the glossary should be, e.g., 30 items, but no more than one page, please.
Please post the product name on Discussions ASAP (by Sunday, June 2, 2024)!
- Each group should post the name of the food product on Discussions (already open!) ASAP, no later than Sunday, June 2, 2024.
- Up to three groups are allowed for the same product. That is, NO 4 th group can present the same product.
- Read the product names posted on Quercus/Modules before your group posts anything under Discussions.
- First come, first served.
Footnotes:
If you cite something (e.g., statistics), give a footnote (NOT an Endnote) on the slide. In general, a website link is good enough for this presentation.
Languages:
Both English and Chinese.
What to Submit?
[1]An audio file, presented by every group member with everyone’s name at the beginning, for about 12 minutes (15 minutes at the most) in Chinese or English.
[2]PowerPoint, 12-15 slides, including the cover slide that contains the following:
- Group number (e.g., Group 14)
- every group member’s Class No. (one of 69 numbers in the course)
- registered name at the University
- Chinese name (中文名)
- Email address
I’ll review the slides. There’s no need to use many fancy pictures that take up a lot of space (some simple ones are okay), as this PPT file will NOT be posted on Quercus to protect your copyright and prevent possible plagiarism in the future.
[3] One-page Word file that contains a bilingual (Chinese-English / English-Chinese) glossary of the significant words in your presentation.
Feel free to let me know if you have any questions. Enjoy doing your research and presentation!
