TASK

Students are required to submit solutions for three lab projects over the trimester. Each lab project is based on a specific dataset, which, along with the general topic, is discussed in the lab session during the week prior to the project. The lab project itself is conducted during the lab. Submissions must include a single Jupyter Notebook script. file containing the Python code (file type: *.ipynb). These lab projects offer students the opportunity to practice and refine big data and data analytics techniques introduced in lectures and applied in the labs.

Lab project solutions will be individually marked on an ongoing basis, with feedback provided on the accuracy, appropriateness, and  quality of the submissions. Each lab project will be awarded an integer mark out of 10. Given that this assessment item carries a 30% weighting, students aiming for a strong course result should strive for a mark of 8 to 10 on each lab project. To achieve high marks, students should ensure that their solutions clearly address the questions posed in the project description and maintain high standards of academic integrity.

To submit your solution for a lab project, please log on to Canvas and look up the following folder:

   Assignments → Assessment 1: Lab project 1 (/2/3)

In that folder, the preparation and specification documents for each lab project will be released ahead of the deadline. Detailed information will be provided for each lab project, including the topic and dataset, the due date, and any required data analysis that must be included.
